Martin Kruit knew from an early age that he would be a career musician. Like his father and grandfather before him, it was in his blood. He was, quite literally, born to it. “I didn’t choose music, it chose me,” he says with a smile.
He grew up in South Africa of Dutch parents, was schooled in Natal, then worked in Cape Town before moving to Europe and the UK to pursue his music career. He has worked in The Netherlands, Denmark, Spain and Gibraltar. He created and co-owned a restaurant in the university town of Southampton in the UK.
“I’m lucky enough to have grown up during the most amazing music of our time – the 70s and 80s. Musical giants, icons, the likes of Eric Clapton, Santana, The Eagles, James Taylor, Chris Rea, The Police, Bob Marley – these are the influences that I grew up with. This is today’s Classic Pop and everyone loves the music still.”
